Lakeland Bowing Down To Foreclosures
Melanie Odom is one of the many in Lakeland bowing down to foreclosures. She has exhausted many months fighting to save her husband from cancer. That has given her very little time to save the family house from falling into the foreclosure net. The Odoms were a prudent balanced couple that had no difficulty in carrying on with the mortgage and yet maintain a normal standard of living. Herb Odom was engaged in road construction work when his failing health forced him to give up his job last February. Now the couple is camping in rented quarters, as their four bed-roomed house in South Lakeland is ready to be sold at foreclosure auctions. Melanie looks at the family position in an unemotional manner. With her sole income, bills could not be paid and the mortgage company was far from cooperative. 48-year-old Melanie is the assistant of a teacher. The couple have two teenage children
